To all those who have just made the greatest decision of their lives, we as a committee welcome you to the most prestigious, talented, sociable, enviable, sexy, eventful, noisy, messy, and down right friggin' amazing hall in Loughborough!
You now have the privilege to consider yourself one of the elite few who is able to call themselves a rutherfordian!
The time you spend in halls will undoubtedly be some of the best years of your life and we as a committee are here to make sure of that....

Freshers!!
Please check out the Freshers '09 page for full details on Day and Night activities!! It's going to be the best 2 weeks of your life so come fully prepared.
Essentials to remember.....
MONEY (cash /cheque): You will need to pay for hall subs (about £55) on arrival.
Also on offer when you arrive as well as IMS shirts, NUS cards, and some other bits. Not compulsary but quite a few people do tend to get them :)
Also money for going out!
FANCY DRESS/ CLOTHING: Standard - a major part of freshers week, and throughout the year, so bring as much different stuff as you can, school uniform, neon stuff, army gear...whatever you can find lying around! Also check out all the freshers’ nights and get creative!!
Obviously bring your standard clothes, but you'll also need smart dress for the Freshers' ball :)
Jewellery.
FOOD & BOOZE – Food, for if you miss any meals in the first few days with a horrible hangover, and for the weekends. Pasta, bread and pretty standard stuff. Food can easily be bought on campus too.
Dishing out beers is a good way to meet people and make friends. Its always better to get the parents to pay for it before you arrive!! Always good to have a bottle opener handy as well. :).
HOUSEHOLD STUFF: Although you will be catered for during the week, you will need to sort yourself out at weekends so you will need plates and cutlery. Unless you plan on living off take away during the weekend, which is always an option!! Also you will need mugs and glasses, for the all important pre-drinks and the post lash up brew! Tin openers are handy, and a teatowel.
Don't bring pans because there's some provided.
You don’t get any hangers either so you will need to bring some with you :).
BEDDING: Bed sheet, duvet cover, duvet and pillows.
Also the mattress are covered in weird plastic, so bring a matress cover if you can get one too, though they're not toooo bad if you can't.
STUFF FOR THE WALLS: Posters, photos, reminders of home etc. The rooms are all standard white and boring. Just to brighten things up and make the place look a bit more welcoming and homely!
Drawing pins and blu-tack are always helpful as well, but careful with the blu-tack you’ll have to pay with your deposit if you mark the walls, but hey thats what tip-ex is for right!? It's not a big problem.
TOILETRIES: Obvious, but easy to forget: Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower gel, etc.
Again better to bring it with you than waste valuable alcohol money on it when you arrive.
Toilet roll isn't a must, unless you REALLY can't stand the stuff provided.
COMPUTER: For Facebook at least, even if you're not planning to do any work :D
EXTRAS:
iPod for the walk to lectures/ actual lectures ;).
Hair Straighteners?
Games - of the drinking or standard variety!
Towels :)
Folders and writing paper etc :).
IMS...
IMS recommences!
Trials will be held on Tuesday 29th of September.... Look out for Posters regarding times and sports!!
There will be a lot going on in IMS at the moment and if your not playing support would be great! We are currently 7th overall in the table but we want to be higher! Get involved as much as you can!! Anything you want to do just give one of the sport secs a shout. Hammond and Celine have asked anyone no matter your ability to get in touch with her if you want to get involved, but again if you don't feel much like playing come down an support and get us higher in the IMS table!Let's try and get massive support down there to prove to everyone that not only does Rutherford have the best sports players but also the biggest crowd with the best bant!!!
Don't forget to check the IMS board on the way into the dining hall for updates, listen out for shout-outs, join the facebook group and speak to the sports secs (Hammond, Celine, Cheyne and Russ) if you wanna get involved!!
