Kit

All helmets, paddles, boats and buoyancy aids must be approved by the scrutineers before they can be used in the competition. Kit which has passed will be marked with a scrutineering sticker. For guidelines on kit please see the Canoe Polo yearbook. The scrutineers will be checking the overall safety of equipment but we request that teams pay particular attention to the following points:

Helmets – the face guard must be firmly attached
Paddles – must not fit in the slot of the BCU polo committee’s standard paddle gauge and must not have corners of a smaller radius than the guide on the paddle gauge.
Boats – must have sufficient securely attached bumpers at both ends. Please note that the integral bumpers on plastic boats are not sufficient.
Buoyancy aids- must have side padding.
Teams may play with boats of different colours.

For the safety of everyone competing, please do not complain to those doing the scrutineering. We ask your cooperation with this matter.

Any concerns about the kit of an opposing team should be raised with the referee at the time of the match or with the organiser in advance.

Scrutineering will be available until dark on Friday and from 7:30am – 2:00pm on Saturday, please see the event schedule for further details

Loughborough will have a complete set of spare kit for teams to borrow in the event of a clash.Whilst it is the universities responsibility to source it's own suitable & adequate kit, if your university has any questions or issues surrounding kit, please email Nicola Parker busa-organiser@canoepolo.org.uk or contact her on 07967 814688 to discuss possible arrangements. DoNOT leave this till the week before the event as kit arrangements will not be given priority during this time!!!!

Games Games will be played in accordance with the BCU’s Canoe Polo rules as detailed in the most current yearbook.

Event Guidelines

1) All persons competing in the event or spectating are responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate and responsible manner at all times. Club Captains are ultimately responsible for ensuring this is the case and the organiser requests their support in ensuring that their club behaves appropriately.

2) Team Captains also assume responsibility for the actions of their players. In the event of any reasonable complaint the organiser will discus the issue with the Club Captain and the Team Captain only. If the problem cannot be resolved the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the team from the competition. Anyone who is disqualified will be subject to BUSA disciplinary procedures.

3) BUSA Canoe Polo is primarily a competitive event although the organiser appreciates that some teams take competing more seriously than others. Therefore it asked that all teams are respectful of their neighbours on the campsite to ensure minimum disturbance. If a problem can not be resolved then the organiser will intervene as detailed in point 2.

4) Eligible female players may compete in the BUSA Open & BUSA ladies leagues. However, in the event of a clash between matches, the player must choose which game they wish to play in. The other game WILL NOT WAIT!!! All other players can only play for one university. the player & their team faces disquualification if these rules are not adhered to.

5) Buoyancy aids must be worn whilst on the jetties.

6) Boats may only be launched form the beach area at the right hand side of the waterfront

7) Players many not exit boats onto any other area of the bank or the jetties for any reason.

8) Hatfield Water Park and LSCC accept no responsibility for any kit or personal belongings brought to BUSA Canoe Polo 2008. All equipment is brought at the owner’s own risk
